Cult status
Don’t have to watch what I say
Cult status
Not too much in my way
I’m gonna be the biggest thing in small town
And when you’re not looking
That’s when I’ll be

Cult status
Travel by subway
Cult status
Goin my own way
I’m gonna be the smallest fish in the big big pond
And when you’re not lookin
That’s when I’ll be headed for

Cult status
My foot in the door
Cult status
Don’t want no more
Gonna be the first one in and the last one out
And where you’re not lookin’
that’s where I’ll be

you worked hard to make something happen
never say you are not made for this world
just watch out, if you wake up in a messed up mission
because before you know it…

all of a sudden everything falls
away from you

enjoy power while it lasts
tastes change, lovers fly so fast
but all you need is one good last
long time ago

all of a sudden everything falls
into grace when you least expect it
even when it all just falls away
all around you

all of a sudden everything stalls
at the moment of execution
all of a sudden the white phone rings
and it’s for you

do me a favor -> say you’re in grace
say you’re in grace

everything falls

From my latest project, tentatively titled Goodbye Monday Blue (in mixed-up tribute to my departed hero Kurt Vonnegut). Cement is a Comes A Time-esque reflection, written in November 1993 and left alone until yesterday, when the band got into a rainy day mode and dusted it off.

on top of a cement sidewalk — under a cloudless sky
you and i had our first embrace — before our first goodbye

then i drove along the freeway — away from the city
saw the skyline in my mirror –- could’ve sworn you were looking at me

i don’t want to know anymore
i don’t need to know anymore
Because i know you’re still there
i just know that you’re still there

so now i’m flyin over this memory — on a hazy afternoon
you have to know that i am watching — you have to know i made it through
