Once my future was shiny as the seat of my pants are today
Then old mother luck and all her daughters started duckin’ me
When I finally got tired of just sittin’ there watching my life slip away
I said I better start takin’ all the living that’s a-comin’ to meNow I love too much, fight too much
Stay out late at night too much
But you bet your butt I’m going to live before I die
And I may smoke too much, drink too much
Every blessed thing too much
It’s a low-down life, but it ain’t gonna pass me byI don’t care if the world don’t ever hear the sound of my name
And old mother luck and all her daughters keep a-duckin’ me
As long as that Cat that I gotta look at when I shave ain’t ashamed
There ain’t no Jody in the world I’d ever rather be.Still I love too much, fight too much
Stay out late at night too much
But you bet your butt I’m going to live before I die
And I may smoke too much, drink too much
Every blessed thing too much
It’s a low-down life, but it ain’t gonna pass me by
track released 20 November 2010
Written by Kris Kristofferson for his 1973 record Spooky Lady’s Sideshow. Published by Universal Music.
Well, you sure look funny, girl, you’re sure lookin’ strange
You can’t stay this way, no, you just gotta change
The way you’re walkin’, talkin’, it ain’t lookin’ right
The way that you been actin’ is too far out of sight
You’ve Got Your Head On Backwards
Nastynasty week. Witnessed this phenomenon everywhere I went.
Still had a brazengood time. Always do as the alt-outsider. You?
Yeah, so the Jerden years are not where to start with The Sonics b/c
everything of theirs on Etiquette is the golden canon, blahblahblahbut true.
So start with Psycho-Sonic and Here Are The Sonics and then
download everything else in sight. This track's original was put onto a
retrospec of The Sonics' Jerden Records years called Maintaining My Cool and
was my first toe-in-the-water with this crazyfectious ragtag sound
that is (was) The Sonics. Punk before punk was even a New York Doll.

And I just turned twenty-two
I was wonderin’ what to do
And the closer they got
The more those feelings grew

There’s sometimes nothing more fun than channeling Crazy Horse.
1979′s Rust Never Sleeps, in particular.
